PLEASE NOTE: Any and all of the information in this section may change, this is a very fluid situation, and we are doing our best to keep on top of it.

Traveling to Vermont

Anyone traveling to Vermont or returning to Vermont must follow the state guidelines, which currently are:

  • 14-day quarantine or 7-day quarantine plus a negative COVID-19 test.
  • You must stay in your quarantine location the entire time.
  • Consider registering for state Sara Alerts (daily COVID-19 check reminder).

Expectations for participating on the team this year

There’s no question that this season will be different from past seasons. We will be focusing on fundamentals, with limited races in late February/March. To provide a safe situation for our racers, coaches and others in contact with the team, we expect each ski team member (including racers, coaches and parents) to:

  • Follow the travel and quarantine restrictions (see information above).
  • Complete required daily health checks for temperature, COVID-19 symptoms using the health check by logging into your account on this website:
    • For all racers, coaches and parents if assisting with the team.
    • Participation in training/races will depend on the health check.
  • Complete required COVID-19 waivers sent in a separate email:
    • VARA pledge.
    • Quechee Ski Team COVID-19 waiver to be signed by both parents and racers.
    • Quechee Season Ski Pass COVID sign-off. You will be asked to sign this when you get your ski pass for the season.
  • Wear a required mask:
    • When coming to and from your vehicle.
    • Waiting in the lift line or on the chairlift.
    • During training.
  • Have your ski pass visible for lift attendants. QLLA members and non-members are required to get a new ski pass this season.

All racers, coaches and parents are expected to follow the Quechee Ski Team COVID-19 guidelines.

What to expect on training days - scheduled as of January 1, coaches will let you know if this will be changing.

  • Staggered arrival/departure time for each age group (the times for the U10/12/U14 may shift some, the Mountain Team times are set):
    • Mountain Team:
      • Morning session – 11 am to 1 pm
      • No afternoon session
    • U10:
      • Morning session – 9:30 am to 11:30 am
      • Afternoon session – 1 pm to 3 pm
    • U12:
      • Morning session – 9:15 am to 11:45 am
      • Afternoon session – 12:45 pm to 2:45 pm
    • U14:
      • Morning session – 9 am to 11 am
      • Afternoon session 1 pm to 3 pm
  • Schedules may change due to weather conditions, delays in start, hill capacity, etc. It’s important to confirm the day’s training schedule (through the app, the website, Facebook or emails from your coach).
  • Pre-arrival:
    • Completed health check [through website].
  • Arrival:
    • Your child should bring a small backpack with snacks, water, extra face mask/neckie and hand warmers. We will designate a space to store their backpacks in the Red Barn in the Base Lodge parking lot.
    • Your child needs to be geared up and ready to go. As a team, we will not have access to the Base Lodge this season so plan accordingly. There will be restroom facilities located at the base of the chairlift. And there will be a warming tent (the team will not be going in as a group) next to the Base Lodge deck.
    • Check-in with coaches at specific locations on the mountain:
      • Check-in will begin 15 minutes before the start of the session. If your child misses the check-in (or doesn’t complete/pass their health check) they will not be able to train that day.
    • The chairlift is limited to two riders per chair. Mountain Team participants MUST be able to get on and off the chairlift on their own without assistance. If they can’t, unfortunately, this year they cannot participate. The coaches will not be able to assist them. For the t-bar, the Quechee Club is allowing two individuals from different families to ride it together (masked at all times), and it's up to you as a parent if you are comfortable having your child riding the t-bar with someone else.
    • If your child decides to leave the group during training (to ski with family/friends) they will not be able to finish the training session.
  • Departure:
    • A parent must pick-up their child at the end of their training session unless you have made arrangements with them to ski back to your home/condo.

What to expect on Race Days

The VARA/Mid-Vermont Council (MVC) is planning for a limited number of events for the 2020-2021 season. The MVC council will adhere to the guidelines/procedures for hosting an event as directed by USSS and VARA. Races will be held midweek. Most resorts are not allowing weekend events. Quechee will not be hosting any events this season.

Based on USSS, VARA and VARA (U14 and younger) guidelines:

  • Race registration will be online through AdminSkiRacing.
  • A council bib will be issued to each racer for the season. They are responsible for keeping/washing their bib. Bibs will be collected at the end of the season.
  • Race-day tickets will be distributed by the coaches.
  • Race schedules will focus on maximizing time on the snow and distancing athletes on the hill and in line.
  • Field size will be limited to a maximum of 100 racers per event. Please note, that each venue could require less.
  • An inspection window will be given to each club. There will be no individual inspections.
  • Running orders will be based on each club. There will be a random draw of clubs for seeding and a random bib order within the club.
  • Masks must be worn by competitors at all times, except while on the course.
  • Physical scoreboards will not be available.
  • Spectators are strongly discouraged.
  • Awards will be virtual or sent by mail.
